Located on the banks of the Nenana River, on the eastern boundary of the Park, is a quiet wooded campus that provides a base for Elderhostel classes, field trips and guided hikes in Denali.
Rain showers are frequent in Alaska, so a waterproof jacket with a
hood is essential and a pair of packable waterproof rain pants will make your hikes more comfortable
as well.
Local naturalists, homesteaders, and explorers will share their knowledge of the wilderness they call home during classroom sessions, interpretive walks and guided field trips.
However, gratuities for all program-related meals and field
trips are included in the program and paid for by the Denali Foundation.
Day trips for private vehicles are not allowed and only a limited number of buses are permitted into
the park beyond mile 13 on the park road.
Denali Foundation Alaska was founded in 1989 in order to develop and implement research, education and communication programs. Wilderness leadership courses and elder hostel programs in Denali National Park, Alaska.
A small daypack or fanny pack (at least one per
couple) will come in handy to carry supplies such as a water bottle and mosquito repellent.
